The dissertation is devoted to the development of a methodological approach to assessing the economic effects of digitalization of production processes in oil and gas companies, using the example of oil production, taking into account the environmental factor. The paper systematizes theoretical concepts of digitalization, proposes a classification of economic effects according to six criteria, including environmental and social effects with their monetization. A comparative analysis of six assessment methods (NPV, EVA, before-after comparison, Harrington's desirability function, HSE University digitalization index, Kokuy tseva-Ovchinnikova approach) is carried out, and the necessity of a combined approach is substantiated. Seven features of Russian methodological approaches to assessing the effects of digitalization are identified. An extended formula for the net economic effect (NEE) is developed, including three environmental components: reduction of payments for negative environmental impact, savings on land reclamation, and reduction of fines. The methodology was tested on the data of Rosneft Oil Company for 2020–2024. The calculations showed that the inclusion of environmental components increases the total economic effect by 2.997 billion rubles (2.6%) and increases NPV by 6.3 billion rubles (+7.2%). A three-scenario NPV analysis until 2030 was carried out, confirming the economic viability of the digitalization program in all scenarios. The results of the study can be used by Russian oil and gas companies to justify investment decisions in the implementation of digital projects, as well as to develop an industry standard for assessing the effectiveness of digitalization.
